November 3, 1944

• Manley, Inc., owners of one of Tarkio’s popcorn plants, has let a contract for the erection of a new warehouse and the construction of four more bins. It is planned to begin construction immediately if the contractor is successful in securing a sufficient number of workmen.

• Resplendent in its new exterior and interior decoration, the Tarkio Theater will be thrown open to the public Saturday, at which time Manager Virgil Harbison is extending an open invitation to the public to view the new theater. A series of special film showings, including a feature, comedies, and cartoons, will be presented.

• A.E. Andersen, local photographer, has recently completed an order of some 350 snapshots for a customer in the armed service in Australia. While the size of the order is more or less unusual, the distance to which the photos are sent is probably the greatest of Mr. Andersen’s 40 years in Tarkio. The pictures were ordered by Cpl. Norman Gentry for himself and seven buddies.

November 6, 1969

• One of Tarkio’s most energetic groups, The Young at Heart Club, is hard at work preparing for their annual bazaar. Colorful quilts, aprons, foods, gifts, stuffed toys, white elephants, and antiques will be for sale at the Legion building November 15.

• Both the low and high reading for the week were recorded on the 4th, 28 degrees and 54 degrees. Precipitation for the month of October amounted to 4.53, twice the normal amount for this time, according to Lester Morton, local official weather observer.

November 3, 1994

• Tarkio’s Community Awareness Team (C.A.T.) held its second annual Kiss-A-Pig Contest during Red Ribbon Week. The lucky winner was Mary Lou Knepper, who puckered up and kissed the pig (held by last year’s winner Chris Martin) during half time of the Tarkio vs. Rock Port, Missouri, football game on Friday, October 28. Also that night, THS twirlers Amy McAdams, Nancy Nims, and Amy Collingham performed with fire batons.

• Tarkio High School Football Coach Dave Palmeiro coached a career milestone on Friday, October 28, when the Indians came from behind to defeat the Rock Port Blue Jays, giving him his 200th career win. Palmeiro is a 1966 Tarkio College graduate. He has coached at Tarkio for 25 years and his total career record currently stands at 200-63-5.

• The Tarkio High School Lady Indians Volleyball Team was crowned District 16 Champion when the girls defeated Rock Port Wednesday, October 26.
