Area beef producers should make plans to attend the sixth annual Three-State Beef Conference that is scheduled for January 14, 15 and 16, 2020, with locations in Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska. The Three-State Beef Conference is designed to give beef cattle producers and others in the beef industry in Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska a regular update on current cow-calf and stocker topics.
The conference provides a forum of specialists from three of the United States’ leading beef cattle land grant universities as well as other industry experts. All sessions will be held during the evening to help accommodate producers who work off the farm during the day.
The theme for this year’s conference is “Improving the Bottom Line of Breeding.” Topics and speakers for the conference are as follows: “Pre-calving Nutritional Strategies: Am I Staying Ahead or Getting Behind?” by Dr. Travis Mulliniks, Range Cow Nutritionist, University of Nebraska-Lincoln; “Vaccines and Implants: Effects on Production and Reproduction” by Dr. Craig Payne, Extension Veterinarian, University of Missouri Extension; and “Reproductive Performance: Are You Leaving Money on the Table?” by Dr. Jordan Thomas, State Beef Reproduction Specialist, University of Missouri Extension.
The first session of the conference will be held Tuesday, January 14, in Greenfield, Iowa, at the Warren Cultural Center. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and the program begins at 6:00 p.m.
The Missouri session will be held Wednesday, January 15, in Savannah at the Andrew County Youth Building. It also begins with registration at 5:30 p.m. and the program at 6:00 p.m.
The final session will be Thursday, January 16, at the Otoe County Fair Center in Syracuse, Nebraska. Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting will start at 6:00 p.m.
Attendees are asked to pre-register by Friday, January 10, 2020. Calling or e-mailing with your reservation helps with meal plans and also helps keep costs down.
