Fairfax Sorosis met Monday, December 16, 2019, at the home of Georgia Gilley. Covered with two plus inches of snow, it was picture card perfect for the Christmas party, but not for driving on country roads. However, everyone arrived safely and in a jolly mood. What’s not to like about refreshments and gifts?
President Debbie Johnson called the meeting to order and since this was our Christmas party, the business meeting was brief. Our next meeting is in February. We have given up on January since we have had to cancel the meeting the past three years. “Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow.”
Our social committee, Carolyn Pyeatt, Barbara Jones, and Debbie Johnson served a variety of beautifully decorated sweets and then we had fun puzzling over titles of carols. For instance, what carol could be named by this description: Omnipotent supreme being who elicits respite to ecstatic distinguished males? Answer: “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.” Twenty questions like that kept us from gossiping, well, some of the time. It was a very Merry Christmas!
