The Energy Bus continues to roll throughout our building in December. This month’s Energy Bus Principle is “Fuel Your Ride with Positive Energy.” The fuel that moves our bus to our destination is positive energy. Real positive energy comes from trust, faith, enthusiasm, purpose, joy, and happiness. Being positive not only makes us better, it makes everyone around us better. In the spirit of the season, there have been numerous examples of students, staff, and community members promoting positive energy in our building.

Blue Jay Shop returned to the elementary for the third consecutive year. Students have the opportunity to shop for loved ones and experience the joy that comes from giving to others this Christmas season. This event is organized by Mrs. Teten and continues to grow each year. This year she invited community members to come in and help students with shopping and wrapping gifts. In addition, upper elementary students and Mrs. Goins’ FACS classes helped students find that “just right gift” for everyone on their lists. A special thank you to all the volunteers assisting and to community members that generously donated to ensure that all students could shop for their family members.

Student talents were on full display the final week of the first semester. Our 14th STEM Showcase night provided students with opportunities to share their creativity and problem solving skills. The Winter Music Program brought out the musical and theatrical talents of our preschool through third grade students. This year the students performed “Flakes” to a capacity crowd in the gymnasium. We finished the week celebrating our students who met their second quarter reading goals with a movie party. In addition, we had some students go to Pleasant View Nursing Home to read Christmas stories to the residents.

Merry Christmas to all our students, staff, and families throughout Blue Jay Nation. 2020 is right around the corner! Stay connected in the new year with daily classroom events and school updates on Twitter @RPBluejays. As always we strive to . . .
