Atchison County Community Services, Inc., in partnership with Community Action Partnership and Second Harvest Community Food Bank, held a Fresh Mobile Pantry Thursday, January 30, 2020, in Tarkio. Although the event was supposed to start at 11:00 a.m., by 10:00 a.m. there were close to 30 people waiting and by the end, around 250 people had stopped by. The event, which provided pork loins, milk, rice, pears, apples, cabbage, lentils, and split peas to everyone who wanted to partake, was a huge success! Pictured at top are Community Services Director Sam O’Riley with volunteers Cassie Hegstrom and Jordan Duran who handed out the food. Above is Mildred Morrison making her selections. Community Services is also looking for people who would like to receive its monthly newsletter to learn what ways the program can help the community and ways that the community can help as well.
