The Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation (MRTF) awards $500 classroom grants throughout the state each year. Eight are awarded to Region 1 which includes the school districts of Mound City, South Holt, Craig, Fairfax, Tarkio, and Rock Port, plus other school districts. Classroom grant applications are due June 30 of each year. Grant funds may be appropriated in the areas of resources, leadership, research, or materials that are used by an active Missouri classroom teacher.
Introduced just last year was the PEERS grant application. These grants are available to any support staff employed by a public school district and are in the PEERS retirement system. The amount of each grant will be $500. A minimum of 10 grants will be awarded in 2021.
Two copies of the completed grant application should be postmarked and mailed to the MRTA/MRTF office building by June 30. Winners will be notified by August 31.
Every school superintendent should have a copy of both grants. Grant applications can also be downloaded at www.mortf.org.
