Three boys from this immediate community have been chosen by the Rock Port Community Club and Ralph Greer post of the American Legion to attend Boys’ State at Fulton, Missouri, June 21 to 24. The Legion’s selections are Randall Sharp, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nuell Sharp of Watson, and Hardin Cox, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Charles Cox of Rock Port. The Community Club chose Stewart Harmes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Harmes of  near Phelps City. The two organizations were aided in their selections by information furnished by the boys’ teachers.

April 10, 1969

Honor roll students at the University of Missouri, Columbia, include three Rock Port young people and two from Fairfax. All five are enrolled in the College of Arts and Science. Honor roll designation is for the fall semester for the following students: James Carpenter, Gerald Lee Heckel, and Richard Lee Tiemeyer, Rock Port; and Stephen Dale Grubb and Jerry Allan Schooler, Fairfax.

Rock Port’s Blue Jay track team scored 65 1/6 points at Burlington Junction Tuesday to defeat host West Nodaway and Fairfax in a triangular meet. West Nodaway had 48 1/3 points and Fairfax 33 1/2 points.

April 7, 1994

Mandy Runkles, Phil Eilers, Cory Scamman and Jill Meyerkorth have been selected as All District players for the 1993-94 basketball season.

Joy Polson, Rock Port, received her 35-year tenure pin at Midland Empire Girl Scout Council’s annual recognition dinner March 29, at the Ramada Inn in St. Joseph. In addition to numerous local Girl Scout volunteer jobs, Polson served as the Council’s training coordinator and as an officer and board member on the Council’s board of directors.

Dusty Herron, Rock Port, Automotive and Richard Meyer, Tarkio, Diesel Farm, have been named to the Dean’s List for the winter quarter ending March 17,1994, at Southeast Community College, Milford Campus.
