SUMMARY:Fairfax Farmers Market to begin in May
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE THE MONTH CHANGE: \nThe first Fairfax Farmer’s Market of 2026 will be held in May\, from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Main Street. Vendors are welcome to stay until 1:00 p.m. to catch the lunch crowd. There is no fee to set up a stand\, but you must supply your own canopy\, tables\, and chairs. There will be weekly regular vendors as well as other featured sellers who will make an occasional appearance. \nThe Atchison County Library will also have two carts overflowing with books (25¢ each)\, audiobooks (25¢ each)\, movies ($1)\, and magazines  (free) available from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Whether you’re a reader who loves romance\, western\, nonfiction\, mystery\, or more – the library has you covered! There will be table books and antique books for decorating or crafts\, magazines with recipes or great pictures for projects. \nStay tuned for more information once we get closer to May.

SUMMARY:MU Extension to offer free\, virtual class Dining With Diabetes
DESCRIPTION:University of Missouri (MU) Extension is offering a healthy cooking class for individuals with diabetes. This free\, virtual class called Dining with Diabetes will show participants how to make meals that are healthy\, easy to prepare\, and tasty. Recipes will be demonstrated. \nParticipants will also learn up-to-date information on nutrition\, meal planning\, and exercise and how to understand common diabetes-related medical tests. Recipes and a workbook will be provided for each participant. \nThe Dining with Diabetes course meets four consecutive weeks on Mondays\, March 16\, March 23\, March 30\, and April 6\, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The classes will be held virtually\, with a Zoom link provided upon registration. The program is free\, thanks to the Department of Health and Senior Services. DESCRIPTION:Spring sports are starting up this week. Rock Port will participate in a baseball jamboree\, hosted by East Atchison\, Wednesday\, March 18\, at the Tarkio baseball field. The first game begins at 4:30 p.m. Both boys’ golf teams will compete at Mound City at 4 p.m. Wednesday\, March 25. The EA Wolves’ first track meet will be Thursday\, March 26\, at Worth County at 3:30 p.m. and the Blue Jays’ first track meet will be Monday\, March 30\, at 4 p.m. at Mound City.
