SUMMARY:Fairfax Farmers Market to begin in May
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE THE MONTH CHANGE: \nThe first Fairfax Farmer’s Market of 2026 will be held in May\, from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Main Street. Vendors are welcome to stay until 1:00 p.m. to catch the lunch crowd. There is no fee to set up a stand\, but you must supply your own canopy\, tables\, and chairs. There will be weekly regular vendors as well as other featured sellers who will make an occasional appearance. \nThe Atchison County Library will also have two carts overflowing with books (25¢ each)\, audiobooks (25¢ each)\, movies ($1)\, and magazines  (free) available from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Whether you’re a reader who loves romance\, western\, nonfiction\, mystery\, or more – the library has you covered! There will be table books and antique books for decorating or crafts\, magazines with recipes or great pictures for projects. \nStay tuned for more information once we get closer to May.

DESCRIPTION:The farmers market operated by Richard and Helen Burkey in Tarkio will open for the 2026 season starting in April. The market is located at the Burkey residence\, right before the curve as you head south out of Tarkio at 20564 U.S. Hwy. 59 (use the north driveway). They will be open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. \nThe Burkeys have purchased a refrigerated truck\, which will keep the food that needs to stay cool fresh. As the fruit and vegetable seasons progress\, the Burkeys will be selling watermelons\, cantaloupes\, cabbages\, tomatoes\, and peaches. They also have average to large sized\, farm fresh eggs gathered daily. Besides eggs\, fruits and vegetables\, the Burkeys also plan to have fishing equipment and antiques for sale on the property. SUMMARY:Free Kids’ Summer Meals
DESCRIPTION:Free summer meals for all kids and teens are available weekdays through the Kids’ Summer Meals program. The Tarkio Nutrition Center\, located at 412 Main Street in Tarkio\, will serve breakfast and lunch – completely free for every child in the community. Breakfast for kids will be served from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. Lunch for kids will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. \nFamilies in Fairfax can pre-order lunch Tuesday\, Wednesday\, and Thursday\, but must call 660-736-5725 by 9:00 a.m. that day. Meals are reserved on a first‑come\, first‑served basis\, so be sure to call in advance. Meals can be picked up from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Fairfax branch of the Atchison County Library\, located at 118 E. SUMMARY:Rock Port 4th of July Celebration in the Park
DESCRIPTION:Events scheduled for the Independence Day Celebration in the Rock Port Municipal Park include the following: \nFriday\, July 3 \nBounce houses will be available beginning at 3:00 p.m. \nThere will be a BBQ cook off. Meat must be at the shelter by 5:30 p.m. and testing and judging starts at 6:00 p.m. BBQ will be available at $10 per plate. You can register on the Rock Port 4th of July in the Park 2026 Facebook page. \nLight ups will be at dusk. \nThere will be a parachute drop at 7:00 p.m. \nThe fireworks display will begin at dusk. This event is sponsored by Rock Port Chamber of Commerce and Rock Port Tourism Board \nThe Rock Port Country Club will have Glow Golf following the fireworks show. The cost is $120 per team and balls will be provided. Register on the Rock Port 4th of July in the Park 2026 Facebook page. \nSaturday\, July 4 \nThe Color Run begins at 7:00 a.m. at the shelter house in the park. You can sign up on the Rock Port 4th of July in the Park 2026 Facebook page. The entry fee is $20. If you registered by June 12 you will receive a shirt. You can register the day of the race by 6:30 a.m. for $30. \nPleasant View Nursing Home will have a breakfast at the shelter house beginning at 8:00 a.m. \nBounce houses will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. \nThe Old vs. Young Volleyball Game begins at 9:00 a.m. \nThe Mr. & Miss Firecracker Contest will begin at 9:00 a.m. Registration will be from 8:15 to 8:45 a.m. \nA foam party will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. \nFood trucks will open at 11:00 a.m. \nA 4th of July parade will begin at 1:00 p.m. Register on the Rock Port 4th of July in the Park 2026 Facebook page or in line that day at 12:00 noon. \nFind the painted rocks at 4:00 p.m. \nOld vs. Young Softball begins at 4:00 p.m. \nThe day will close with live music by Josh Bounds from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. You must be 21 or older and have an ID and wristband.
