SUMMARY:Fall soup supper at Rock Port UMC
DESCRIPTION:A fall soup supper will be served Thursday\, October 29\, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Rock Port United Methodist Church (UMC).  Everyone is welcome! Come enjoy a warm meal and an evening of food\, fellowship\, and fun. \nEnjoy chili\, potato soup\, cheese\, crackers\, salami\, and dessert. The meal is free; however\, a free-will donation can be made at the supper. The evening will also include bingo and a performance by the Rock Port UMC Children’s Choir. \nIf getting to the church is difficult\, call 660-744-2101 by Wednesday\, October 28\, to place an order. They will be happy to deliver a meal to you Thursday evening. \nThe fall soup supper is hosted by Rock Port UMC’s Helping Hands for Jesus group.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Atchison County Library Thursday\, October 29\, 2026\, at 6:00 p.m. at the Tarkio Resource Center as the library welcomes Lauren Leach-Steffens! This is the last speaker/writer session of the year for the library. Bring a friend and listen to Lauren share her story\, her writing journey\, and what inspires her! \nLauren has been writing since 3rd grade\, when her Groundhog Day poem was posted on her classroom door. She went home and proudly announced that she wanted to be a poet when she grew up. Her mother’s response? “Do you like to eat?” Thankfully\, Lauren didn’t let that stop her! She has recently begun writing novels\, blending modern-day life with a touch of other realities in both her romance and fantasy stories. As an associate professor of human services\, Lauren draws from psychology\, sociology\, and economics to bring realism to her stories\, while her wonderfully quirky way of looking at life brings the fantasy.
