DESCRIPTION:The East Atchison Wolves Cross Country Team will be hosting its third annual Run With the Wolves 5K Saturday\, July 12\, 2025\, in Tarkio\, Missouri. The event starts in the parking lot of the Tarkio Activity Center (TAC) at 8 a.m.\, moves onto the streets of Tarkio down and around Niedermeyer Park\, back up to the TAC\, around Tarkio High School and finishes in the TAC parking lot where it started. You can find the map at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GVcOV2zcGFy06I9zAgdggyuQexmp9VLyX66qzcXobYE/edit?usp=sharing. \nA few maps will be printed and available at the event. The roads will be lightly marked and there will be a lead vehicle or runner as well as volunteer field marshals to help direct you. Water bottles will be provided at the start/finish line\, and there will be a water station around the 1-1.25 mile mark at Niedermeyer Park. \nThe team is looking to promote both a fun and competitive time and would like to see the community use this event as an opportunity to socialize and stay healthy. Members of the cross country team will serve as pacers to help runners who want to reach a time goal. \nThe entry fee is $20. All runners who sign up before July 3 will receive a complementary t-shirt. All runners who sign up before July 11 will be timed\, and be eligible for medaling. You can also sign up the day of the event\, but there will be a limited supply of shirts. Medals will be awarded based on age groups. People flying planes in and attendees five and under are free. The fly-in breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. (food will be served through lunch). A congressional aviation town hall meeting will be held at the EAA hangar at 10:00 a.m. The air show will begin at 12:00 noon. \nAir show sights will include Matt Younkin with his Twin Beech\, a B-2 Flyover\, a WWII training demonstration\, the Joint Special Forces Jump Team\, WWII Warbird parade\, Dakota Territory Museum demonstration\, T-6 display\, Jerry “Jive” Kirby with a T-28\, and Doug Rozendaal with his Mister Mulligan. There will be many planes on hand to see including a B-25\, P-51s\, T-6s\, a PT-26\, a PT-19\, a BT-13\, a Corsair\, a P-40\, a PT-22\, a C-47\, a Grumman Avenger\, and other warbirds and vintage aircraft. \nFor more information\, call the EAA Chapter 1405 members at 816-244-6927 or 816-262-8500 or visit www.wingnutsflyingcircus.com. The airport is located on Route O. Travel east of Tarkio on Hwy. 136 to the Route O intersection (the first intersection you come to just outside of town) and turn north. Route O at the Hwy. 136 intersection is usually closed around 11:30 a.m. and will remain closed for the duration of the air show demonstrations\, so be sure to get there early. DESCRIPTION:Events scheduled for the Independence Day Celebration in the Rock Port Municipal Park include the following: \nThursday\, July 3 \n• Preregistration for the Junior Mrs. and Mr. Firecracker and \nMrs. and Mr. Firecracker contest at the park – 7:15 a.m. \n• Coronation on the stage – 8:00 a.m. \n• Old vs. Young Volleyball Game – 9:00 a.m. \n• Parachute Drop – 11:00 a.m. \n• Foamaha Events at the park – 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. \n• Duck Race – 3:00 p.m. \n• Old vs. Young Softball Game – 4:00 p.m. \n• Fireworks Raffle Drawing – 7:30 p.m. \n• Fireworks at Dusk – Sponsored by Rock Port \nChamber of Commerce and Rock Port Tourism Board \nThere will also be food trucks available on July 3\, including Nopal’s Mexican Food Truck\, Cajun Country\, and Mother Talisa’s Wood Fired Pizza. DESCRIPTION:The Mule Barn Theatre Guild will present High Road\, an award-winning gospel quartet\, in concert Saturday\, June 21\, 2025. The concert will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Tarkio Presbyterian Church\, located at 700 Maple in Tarkio\, Missouri. \nThis group of talented musicians not only play songs that are close to their hearts but provide longtime fans and new listeners alike with the message of hope found in the Gospel. With a fanbase easily canvassing an array of genres – from country\, to bluegrass\, to Gospel\, to contemporary Christian – the ladies of HighRoad combine grassy instrumentation\, lush harmonies\, original songs\, and gentle nostalgia-laden melodies harkening back to their roots. One member of High Road grew up in Southwest Iowa. \nIn 2024\, they released a much-anticipated project alongside Grammy winning producer\, Ben Isaacs\, and their record label DayWind Records. This album features a collaboration with Ricky Skaggs\, Scotty Inman\, The Isaacs\, and more as well as original songs from this acclaimed group of ladies. Children up to age 14 are invited to bring their bicycles and take part in a bike inspection\, where their brakes\, tires\, handlebars\, chains\, etc. will be checked\, and an obstacle course\, where they will learn proper hand signals and bicycle rules of the road. A free helmet will be given to each child who participates.
