SUMMARY:Fuzzy's Rodeo Ride
DESCRIPTION:Joy and Kenny “Fuzzy” Clapp are once again hosting their rodeo ride. Riders will meet at the Clapps’ home northeast of Tarkio (27081 160th Street). Around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday morning\, June 20\, everyone will ride their horses and mules or wagons to the Tarkio Rodeo grounds. The Clapps will furnish lunch. The riders will take part in the parade and then ride back to the Clapps’ home for a potluck supper. There is plenty of room on the property for camping for those who want to stay Friday and Saturday nights. All riders and wagons are welcome.

DESCRIPTION:The Tarkio Rodeo Parade will take place on Main Street Saturday\, June 20\, at 1:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to come out and watch or participate if you want. Registration and lineup for parade participants begins at 12:15 p.m. at 9th and Elm streets. Businesses\, churches\, organizations\, horseback riders and wagon owners\, tractor drivers\, classic car owners\, and rodeo fans are encouraged to decorate themselves and their entries and join the fun.

SUMMARY:Atchison County Library announces Dinosaur Summer Reading Program
DESCRIPTION:The Atchison  County Library is preparing for an exciting and educational summer as it hosts its annual Summer Reading Program\, inspired by the 2026 national theme\, “Unearth a Story.” \nThe program will take place from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Monday\, Tuesday\, Wednesday and Thursday\, June 22-25 at the Tarkio Library. The library’s summer program will feature a wide variety of activities designed to encourage creativity\, learning\, and exploration. Children participating can look forward to dinosaur-themed crafts\, STEM activities\, outdoor play\, and engaging reading experiences centered around prehistoric life and uncovering hidden stories from the past. \nOne of the highlights of the week will take place on Tuesday\, with the Dino Encounters show!  The kids will be introduced to  and learn about different dinosaurs that were all found in North America. Through the use of audience participation\, realistic dinosaur puppets\, music\, humor and special effects\, Dino Encounters teaches audiences about geological time periods\, species adaptation\, prehistoric environments\, the scientific method\, and much more! Audiences will get to meet and interact with realistic dinosaur puppets. \nDue to anticipated attendance numbers\, all children must be pre-registered to participate. Registration will not be accepted at the door\, and the deadline to register is June 15. SUMMARY:Rock Port 4th of July Celebration in the Park
DESCRIPTION:Events scheduled for the Independence Day Celebration in the Rock Port Municipal Park include the following: \nFriday\, July 3 \nBounce houses will be available beginning at 3:00 p.m. \nThere will be a BBQ cook off. Meat must be at the shelter by 5:30 p.m. and testing and judging starts at 6:00 p.m. BBQ will be available at $10 per plate. You can register on the Rock Port 4th of July in the Park 2026 Facebook page. \nLight ups will be at dusk. \nThere will be a parachute drop at 7:00 p.m. \nThe fireworks display will begin at dusk. This event is sponsored by Rock Port Chamber of Commerce and Rock Port Tourism Board \nThe Rock Port Country Club will have Glow Golf following the fireworks show. The cost is $120 per team and balls will be provided. Register on the Rock Port 4th of July in the Park 2026 Facebook page. \nSaturday\, July 4 \nThe Color Run begins at 7:00 a.m. at the shelter house in the park. You can sign up on the Rock Port 4th of July in the Park 2026 Facebook page. The entry fee is $20. If you register by June 12 you will receive a shirt. You can register the day of the race by 6:30 a.m. for $30. \nPleasant View Nursing Home will have a breakfast at the shelter house beginning at 8:00 a.m. \nBounce houses will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. \nThe Old vs. Young Volleyball Game begins at 9:00 a.m. \nThe Mr. & Miss Firecracker Contest will begin at 9:00 a.m. \nA foam party will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. \nFood trucks will open at 11:00 a.m. \nFind the painted rocks at 4:00 p.m. \nA 4th of July parade will begin at 1:00 p.m. Register on the Rock Port 4th of July in the Park 2026 Facebook page or in line that day at 12:00 noon. \nOld vs. Young Softball begins at 4:00 p.m. \nThe day will close with music by M&M Entertainment from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. You must be 21 or older and have an ID and wristband.
