A very unusual happening began the day on Saturday, September 3, 2016, for those living in the midwest. Around 7 a.m., an earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter Scale occurred in Oklahoma, sending a ripple effect north and south, east and west.
Residents around here were quite startled to be feeling an earthquake. Some thought their spouses were playing tricks on them or their dogs were shaking the bed, some thought they were having a crazy dream, and others thought they were suffering from some random illness. For those in Atchison County, the shaking lasted for thirty seconds or more. Once everyone turned on the news, it became apparent they weren’t losing their minds and in fact an earthquake had occurred.
