The Fairfax Improvement Foundation, which formed last fall, has completed two of their first projects that the Core Committee had decided on. Despite the weather for most of the week of April 24 to 29, the Fairfax Spring Cleanup still deemed successful. The large 22 foot dumpster from American Recycling, Tarkio, that was available for people to take advantage of on Saturday, April 29, was completely filled. Members of the organization took turns being in charge of the dumpster. Although the dumpster will not be available after press- time , the FIF still encourages the town people to clean, paint and give their residences a clean, well taken care of appearance.
The second project was completed in time for Fairfax R-3 School’s graduation and Alumni Banquet this past week. The 4×6 sign depicting John Gilbert, a USA Gold Medalist member of the Paralympic Basketball Team at the XXXI Olympics in Brazil this fall, and a Fairfax alumnus, was erected on the south side of the school and is readable from the highway. It took a couple days to complete the installation with several assisting in the project. The money was raised for this project through a campaign for donations by FIF. The sign was completed through Tarkio Avalanche and Farmer Publishing LLC with the frame work by Steven Kerwin Vinyl Fencing, Platte City.
The Fairfax Improvement Foundation Core Committee is most grateful to all who have contributed and assisted with these projects. They will soon be revealing the next project and will definitely need the community in full support once more.
