A group of Fairfax sophomores gathered in the office of Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood,  North District Commissioner Jim Quimby, and South District Commissioner Richard Burke.

Susette Taylor, Atchison County Clerk and Election Authority, spoke with the group of high school students who visited the Atchison County Courthouse for County Government Day on Tuesday, March 19.

The Atchison County Courthouse was a full house on Tuesday, March 19, for the 65th annual County Government Day. Those attending were welcomed by Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, who introduced the county officials.

Tim Morehouse, Commander of Legion Post #199, gave greetings and a call to order. Sheriff Dennis Martin gave the invocation, and Kelly Daugherty, Legion Post #49, led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Tarkio High School freshmen, Fairfax High School sophomores and Rock Port High School juniors were given tours and heard from many county officials on their jobs and responsibilities. Students were able to witness a live court proceeding and tour the county offices.

The Atchison County American Legion Posts conducted a flag folding ceremony.
