Crystal Woodring discussed the impact ACDC has had on different areas of her life and community involvement.

Atchison County Development Corporation (ACDC) hosted its 2019 business lunch for the Fairfax area at the Fire Station Community Room on March 27. Around 35 attendees enjoyed a wonderful meal by Daybreak Café.  Bob Alldredge, ACDC Treasurer, welcomed all to the meeting and offered a prayer of thanks and blessing for the meal.

Susette Taylor, Atchison County Clerk, mentioned the upcoming renewal of the 1/4-cent economic development sales tax (on the ballot April 2) and discussed the benefits of having an office that dedicated to the development of Atchison County. Over the years, the county has been able to attract new businesses and industry, largely due to ACDC’s efforts to establish the Enhanced Enterprise Zone and Tax Increment Financing incentives. She discussed ACDC’s role in keeping boards like the Industrial Development Authority in place and their part in the overall increase of the tax base over the last 25 years.

Crystal Woodring, Director of Northwest Missouri Living Center, discussed the impact ACDC has had on her organization (Community Enrichment Fund nonprofit grant and job shadowing opportunities), her development (Leadership Northwest Missouri scholarship), her children (Youth Community Beautification Grant), and the county (promoting Atchison County at Great Northwest Day at the Capitol).

ACDC Director Monica Bailey highlighted ACDC’s mission and activities (growing existing businesses, encouraging new business, promoting the county, advocating for the county, developing economic development tools, and creating career development opportunities for youth), mentioning that the office will help however is needed as we work to recover from the flood.  She asked supporters to vote yes to renew the 1/4-cent sales tax on April 2, so that ACDC’s work can continue.
