• Some 66 persons met by invitation at the courthouse Wednesday evening to discuss the matter of a county hospital. Proponents of the idea suggest a $200,000 county bond issue for the erection of such an institution. However, if the county court were to submit the proposition and it carried, the county would be faced with the necessity of a bond retirement tax levy and, in addition, a maintenance tax, since such institutions are seldom, if ever, self-sustaining. Even if a bond proposition of $200,000 were voted now, it would be impossible to build and equip a hospital under present wartime conditions, when material and labor are high.
