• Every generation has its outstanding personalities and Claude Templeton most certainly holds that position of honor in Tarkio. Witty and wise in community affairs, he filled the bill as a great leader. Perhaps Claude’s greatest service to this community was his weekly column in the Avalanche. As part of Atchison County’s 150th anniversary, Claude’s book, Meows, Purrs, and Hisses, is printed and ready for your reading enjoyment. It contains over 200 pages of amusing stories about banking, folksy discussion on gardening, a diary of his world travels, some patriotic pieces, poetry and some of his columns.
