The City of Fairfax Board of Aldermen held a regular meeting February 24, 2021. The meeting was called to order by Michael Oswald, Alderman, at 6:30 p.m. Also in attendance were: Kristi Duering, Beth Graves, and Tabitha Wintz, aldermen; John Brown, Water Superintendent; Danny Kemerling, Treasurer; Lori Helfers, City Clerk; Tony Webber, MFA; and Jim Brown, Fairfax Rural Fire District.

Ryan Kingery, Mayor, joined the meeting at 6:42 p.m.

The tentative agenda was approved unanimously.

Visitors/Presentations

/Public Forum

Jim Brown, Fairfax Rural Fire District, was present to go over the fire agreement between the City of Fairfax and Rural Fire Department. He presented the council with a yearly update. He left the meeting at 7:15 p.m.

Tony Webber, MFA, was present to ask the city to put in some monitoring wells. Tony left the property access agreement and a map of the location of wells for the council to consider and discuss. He left meeting at 7:15 p.m.

Minutes of the January 20, 2021, regular meeting were approved.

The city’s accounts payable was also approved.

Old Business

Discussion was held concerning insurance coverage in the park. The aldermen voted unanimously to add coverage to the current insurance.

Staff Reports

Danny Kemerling presented his treasurer’s report showing that all accounts are in balance.

Lori Helfers reported the status of nuisance letters and court fines that have been issued.

Lori is in contact with Jerri Dearmont, Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments, regarding the CDBG grant. Jerri is waiting on the Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) to be completed. The PER should be done by the end of the month.

John Brown reported on the maintenance/repairs that they have done on the pickup and snow blade.

The next meeting is March 17 at 6:30 p.m.
