November 15, 1946
• Harvey Williams and son, Bud, returned recently from a deer hunt with enough elk meat to supply themselves and their friends.
• A large number of alumni and former students of Tarkio College helped celebrate a successful Homecoming Saturday, November 9. The Owls broke their six game losing streak by holding the highly favored Eagles of Central College, Fayette, to a 6 to 6 tie. The game was played with very few fumbles, although it was played in the rain and ankle-deep mud.
• The Assembly of God Church in Tarkio has purchased three lots on Main Street for the purpose of erecting a new church building. The lots, each 75 by 120 feet, are located just west of Dr. C.D. Hackell’s office and were purchased from June Hays of Watson.
• Friends and neighbors of Alvin Rouse, who resides two miles north and a mile and a quarter east of Westboro, came to his aid and shucked out his corn, filling two corn cribs in a half day’s time on Monday of last week. Mr. Rouse has been ill and was in a hospital. Helping with the corn shucking were 26 men who used 13 teams and a corn picker.
November 18, 1971
• Grand opening of the new home for the Farmers and Valley Bank of Tarkio will be at 512 Main Street this weekend. Visitors may take a close look at the structure, developed from the former Tarkio Truck and Tractor Building.
• Fixtures are being installed in the former Jim’s Pizza building for a Western Auto Store to be operated by Dale Hoeppner. Mr. Hoeppner has been in the retail grocery business for several years, for the past five years in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
• A high temperature of 73 degrees was reached last week on the 15th after a low of 28 degrees on the 11th.
• Greg Prather, Tarkio High School Principal, has been named Superintendent of Schools beginning July 1, 1972, by the Tarkio Board of Education. This year completes his ninth year in the public schools as teacher, principal, and superintendent.
November 14, 1996
• The United Methodist Women hosted their annual bazaar auction Saturday, November 9, in Tarkio. Approximately $4,000 was raised.
• On Thursday, November 7, the American Legion Auxiliary hosted its 18th annual dinner and dance for clients from the Northwest Miissouri Learning Center in Tarkio and Northwest Missouri Industries in Rock Port.
• The Tarkio Lions Club Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, December 7. The theme this year is “Christmas Around the World.” Two categories – floats and characters – will be judged. The first place prize in each category will receive $100 cash and the second place prize will receive $50 cash.
• This year’s Tarkio High School all-school play will be held this weekend, November 16 and 17. The play is called “A-Feudin’ Over Yonder” by Le Roma Rose.
• The United States Air Force jazz band, The Noteables, performed in Tarkio at the Heartland Recreation Center at the Tarkio Academy. Approximately 250 people attended the performance. The Noteables are under the direction of Master Sergeant Jon W. Yates of Mound City, Missouri.
