A sequential intercept mapping workshop was held for Atchison County and Holt County law enforcement and justice-involved employees at the Atchison County Memorial Building in Rock Port, Missouri, May 30 and 31.

The Atchison County Commission met Thursday, May 25, 2023. Present were: Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, South District Commissioner Richard Burke, North District Commissioner Jim Quimby, and Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission.

Presiding Commissioner Livengood called the meeting to order.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Bills were reviewed and approved for payment.

The commission met with Melissa Massar, Great River Engineering, to discuss preliminary designs of BRO-R003(24) and BRO-R003(25). Road and Bridge Supervisor Kamron Woodring was present for the discussion. Massar reported that they are almost ready to submit BRO-25 for environmental review and permitting. Following review of the preliminary designs, they discussed what two bridges to submit for the 2023 call for Regional Bridge Program Projects. After reviewing the list of eligible bridges, they were all in agreement to resubmit the two that were not selected for the first round of funding, which will be Bridge #3570016 on X Avenue over Little Tarkio Creek and Bridge #376003 on S Avenue over Little Tarkio Creek. The commissioners voted to have Great River Engineering prepare and submit the grant application for a fee of $250.00. The work authorization agreement was signed by Presiding Commissioner Livengood.

The depository agreement was finalized and signed by Presiding Commissioner Livengood to submit to Citizens Bank & Trust.

Road and Bridge Supervisor Woodring presented Contract #0271460.4 for renewal of ArcGIS Online GIS Professional Basic User annual subscription. It was approved.

The Atchison County Commission met Tuesday, May 30, 2023. Present were: Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, South District Commissioner Richard Burke, and Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission. North District Commissioner Jim Quimby was absent.

Presiding Commissioner Livengood, South District Commissioner Burke, and Clerk Taylor participated in a two-day Sequential Intercept Model (SIM) Mapping led by PRA Policy Research Associates. This program is a statewide initiative of collaboration between multiple stakeholders to engage in the task of improving the state’s criminal justice system. Leaders came together to discuss improvements to the way in which we use communal resources to address crime in the community.

The Justice Reinvestment Initiative from the Executive Branch and the Leading Change project from the Judicial Branch both seek to maximize use of resources to ensure the safety of our communities through means that bear tangible results. The group discussed ways to develop critical community partnerships and further our shared goals and objectives. This was a review of Atchison and Holt County. Atchison County had numerous stakeholders at the table for this project.
