Sharon Lynn (Schibi) Banister, the daughter of Leonard and Katherine Fox Schibi, was born October 15, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended St Joseph’s Catholic High School, Shawnee, Kansas, graduating in 1959.

On October 31, 1959, Sharon was united in marriage to James Banister at Christ The King Catholic Church. They made their home in Kansas City, Kansas, and became the parents of four children, Julie, Scott, Sandy, and Chad.

Sharon was a homemaker, caring for her children until the age of 30. She then attended Kansas City Kansas Community College, Kansas City, receiving her Registered Nurse’s license in 1976. She was employed at Providence St. Margaret’s Hospital, Kansas City, where she worked in the Emergency Room and Outpatient Care, retiring in 2005.

Sharon was a member of the St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church, Tarkio, Missouri. She enjoyed cleaning and painting ceramics and loved spending time with friends. Sharon passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023, in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 81.

Besides her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, James Banister, and brothers-in-law, John Gaines and Steve French. Survivors include children, Julie (Michael) Thorne, Leavenworth, Kansas, Scott (Vickie) Banister, Kansas City, Sandy (Ron) Riniker, Rock Port, Missouri, and Chad (Shawn) Banister, Tonganoxie, Kansas; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sibling, Marcia Gaines, Helotes, Texas; three nephews, Greg (Sarah) Gaines, Grant Gaines, and Taylor Gaines; numerous sisters-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Tarkio, conducted by Father Duk Nguyen. There is no visitation. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Paw Prints, P.O. Box 158, Tarkio, MO 64491.
