Luella Mae Roberts Hunter passed away Friday, February 23, 2024, in Okeechobee, Florida. Luella was born on January 13, 1934, in Shenandoah, Iowa, to Clarence and Fern (Mullen) Roberts. Luella married Glen Hunter on January 13, 1951. After several business ventures, Luella and Glen moved to Lakeport, Florida, in 1977 and purchased Twin Palms Campground. There they started Glen Hunter Guide Service on Lake Okeechobee. She helped Glen run the guide service out of their house. Luella loved plants, especially orchids. She loved many animals as she had cats, dogs, and even rehabbed a handicapped chicken back to life. Luella and Glen loved to go fishing on Lake Okeechobee. Her greatest love, though, was her family. Luella was happiest when her house was filled with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Luella loved to be called mom, grandma, and GG. While every member of the family had a favorite dish that she made, she was especially famous for her homemade barbeque sauce.

Luella was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Glenda Smith; and one sister, Lucille. She is survived by her loving husband, Glen; son, Curtis Hunter (Betty), Tennessee; grandchildren, David Smith (Jennie), Troy Hunter (Crystal), Nathan Hunter (Niki), all of Florida, and Seth Hunter, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Zac Hunter (Denise), Ethan Hunter, Timothy Smith, Austin Hunter, and McKinley Hunter, all of Florida; and great-great-grandchild, Janay Hunter, Florida. Luella will be missed deeply by her entire family. Luella will be cremated, and burial will take place at a later time in Westboro, Missouri.
