This past week, Fairfax FFA members have seen how their hard work can pay off.
To start the week, members learned that Charlie Smith was selected to receive her Missouri State FFA Degree at the Missouri State FFA Convention in April. It has taken her a lot of hard work over the last few years to get to this point.
On Monday, March 4, four students attended the Mound City Alumni and Supporters LDE. All four did a fantastic job! Charlie Smith placed second in Advanced Public Speaking, Chloe Vernon placed first in Division 1 Prepared Public Speaking, Lexi Brown placed first in Creed Speaking and Anna Ohlensehlen placed third in Creed Speaking.
On Tuesday, March 5, Chloe Vernon was accepted into HYMAX Academy for this summer. HYMAX is a leadership conference where FFA members learn how to advocate for agriculture and become leaders in their community.
On Wednesday, March 6, the FFA scrapbook went to Cameron, Missouri, to be judged. The Fairfax chapter ended up coming home with the first place Area 1 Scrapbook in the paper category. The scrapbook now gets to go to state to be displayed. The scrapbook is the job of the reporter, Grace Oswald. Grace has been working on this scrapbook since the beginning of the school year. This last week, Grace had the help of Lillie Auwarter and KayDee Duering.
The scrapbook will be on display at the chapter’s fish fry Sunday, March 17. The fish fry will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the school’s ag building. The menu will include fried fish and chicken, cole slaw, baked beans, and dessert.
