“The High Seas: Let’s All Set Sail, A Nautical Musical of Sailors, Pirates, Sea Creatures and More!” by John Jacobson and Walter Jack was presented by Tarkio Elementary 4th and 5th graders Friday, April 12, 2024, in the Tarkio High School Auditorium. Directed by Melody Barnett, the pirates, sailors, mermaids, and sea creatures entertained a full house of family and friends. “The sailors are on their way to the Annual Sea-Faring Singing Contest. They are determined that this year they will not lose out to those scurvy pirates and their leader, The King of the High C’s! The pirates are also readying for their journey to the singing contest – singing a rowdy pirate song and doing a pirate dance. They always win because of their incomparable weapon – The King of the High C’s. On their way, the sailors are lured into the rocks by the singing mermaids, who cause a terrible shipwreck. The fish and creatures of the sea rescue the sailors and lead them to a deserted island. The pirates sail right by them on the way to the contest. The pirates don’t feel right about leaving the sailors on the deserted island and return to them to take them along to the singing contest to create a mass choir that will surely win the prize. All ends in perfect harmony!”
