During the month of June, the Tarkio Board of Public Works (TBPW) will be starting its lead service line inventory of its distribution system. During this time, TBPW will be sending out inventory questionnaires to all of its customers to complete about your inside plumbing. Also, GIS locations of all the water meters in the distribution system will be conducted.
After this information is collected, Environmental Works Inc. will be doing physical inspections of each water meter. This process will include a visual inspection of each water line coming into and leaving each meter. This will be performed with a potholing machine that will remove the soil above and around each water line to visually inspect to determine the composition of the pipe used.
Funding for this project is provided through a $397,598 grant through Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Lead Service Line Replacement Funding. Completion of the project is slated to be the fall of 2024. For questions or concerns, contact the TBPW office at 660-736-4812.
