The Atchison County Commission did not meet on Thursday, May 8, 2025, due to Truman’s birthday.

The Atchison County Commission met on Thursday, May 15, 2025. Present were: Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, South District Commissioner Richard Burke, and North District Commissioner Jim Quimby. Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission, was absent.

Presiding Commissioner Livengood called the meeting to order.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Bills were reviewed and approved for payment.

Month-end department reports were reviewed and approved.

Additions and abatements to the tax books were approved as follows:

April 2025: Personal Property – Additions to the tax books: 2024, $8,141.25; 2023, $205.82; 2022, $171.15. Abatements to the tax books were: 2024, $607.52; 2023, $37.59. There were no additions or abatements to the April 2025 tax books for real estate or ag rock.

Sheriff Andy Riley was in to visit with the commission about the Student Resource Officer program. The commission has requested a meeting with all three school districts before moving forward.

There being no further business, the commission adjourned.
