Betty Joan David, age 93, Maryville, Missouri, formerly of Fairfax, Missouri, died Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Parkdale Manor Care Center in Maryville.

Betty was born November 23, 1931, in rural Holt County, Missouri, near Mound City, the daughter of the late Lester L. and Claudia (Adkison) Davis. She attended high school in Mound City.

Betty was united in marriage to Earl David, Jr. August 14, 1948. One child, Tommy Lee “Tom” David, was born to this union.

Betty was the co-owner of the Dairy Diner in Fairfax. She and Earl operated the Diner for over 25 years.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Fairfax Christian Church.

Betty had a true gift for making people feel welcome. Her door was always open to family, friends, and strangers alike. She had a deep love for ice cream and a generous spirit that made sure no one ever left her home hungry.  She had some of the best stories that you could sit and listen to for hours. She was a lot of fun and just a bit of a spitfire – full of life, quick with a laugh, and never afraid to speak her mind. Her sense of humor, sharp wit, and lively spirit made her unforgettable to all who knew her.
