Several firemen visited the Rock Port R-II Elementary School during Fire Prevention Week. Following a tour of the fire trucks, some of the classes were treated to a fire truck ride.

The firemen talked about the importance of making sure the battery in the smoke detector was good and the importance of knowing what number to call in the event of an emergency. James Barnhart and Treyton Lewis talked to the kindergarten class about R-9, one of the Rock Port Fire Department’s smaller trucks.

Chief Scott Jones talks with the preschool and Head Start students about R-4, the department’s pumper truck and why it’s important to be able to haul water.

Kory Paris talks with the kindergarten class about R-5, the department’s emergency truck that carries equipment for about every situation.
