Blue Jays move to 7-0 with homecoming win over South Holt Knights

The Rock Port Blue Jays hosted the South Holt Knights in their Fall Homecoming game Friday, October 10, 2025.

From the beginning of the game Rock Port continued their dominance, putting up 48 points in the first quarter.

Brock Holmes would get things going with a 55-yard run on the first play of the game, followed by two touchdowns by Jack Meyerkorth. Meyerkorth’s first touchdown came from a 40-yard pass from Westyn Amthor. Jack then returned the Knight’s punt for a touchdown. The Jays’ defense would force another punt that gave the Blue Jays great field position inside their own territory. Holmes took Amthor’s hand-off down to the 8-yard line before punching it in on the next play. Once again, the Jays’ defense didn’t allow a first down, forcing the Knights to punt. With Meyerkorth back on the 30-yard line, he would field the ball and take it 50 yards for his third touchdown of the night, bringing the score to 40-0. In the next defensive series, Brock Holmes intercepted the ball, taking it back to the 17-yard line. Quarterback Jack Meyerkorth would take the ball up the middle for his final touchdown of the night. This brought the score to 48-0 with all 2-point conversions being good.

In the second quarter, Rock Port started to get some of the second-string backfield in the game with Logan Ellis, Case Millsap and Blaise Krogen. The Jays were able to move the ball to the 18-yard line before Blaise Krogen would go up the middle to add the final score of the game. Defensively, the Jays held the Knights to only one first down on the night and no points.

The Blue Jays are on the road this Friday as they travel to Burlington Junction to take on the Nodaway Valley Thunder. The game begins at 7:00 p.m.
