East Atchison held its Winter Homecoming Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the Tarkio Activity Center. It was a fun-filled night of basketball and special activities performed by students and student athletes. The Winter Homecoming Royalty crowned following the games included, from left to right: back row – Tarkio’s King Noah McCoy and Queen Bresayda Jimenez and Fairfax’s Queen Amelia Larson and King Austin Helfers. Crownbearers were, from left to right: front row – Tarkio kindergartners Eleanor Henry, Ledgen Lambert, and Natalie Spire and Fairfax kindergartners Emma Schlup and Liam Daugherty.

The Tarkio Elementary third graders performed the 54th annual parachute routine during East Atchison’s Winter Homecoming festivities Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the TAC. The kids performed routines to “Let’s Get Ready To Rumble” and “On Wisconsin.” Over 1,000 Tarkio Elementary students have performed parachute routines since the 1970s, when then P.E. teacher Nancy Barrett introduced what has become a favorite tradition for every Tarkio third grader.
