In 2013, Atchison County Development Corporation (ACDC) introduced the Business Improvement Grant, designed to encourage growth and development of Atchison County businesses. In its first four years, this grant program utilized $99,000 of ACDC dollars to assist with 109 projects that improved business aesthetics, safety or function. Through these projects, almost $180,000 was spent locally.
This year, ACDC is offering the Basic Business Improvement Grant, which is a reimbursable matching grant that will reimburse 50% of the cost of eligible improvements, up to a maximum of $1,000. To date, only $5,600 in grant funds have been awarded. Applications will continue to be accepted (via mail) as long as funds are available. Requests will be considered in the order they are received and will be awarded throughout the year until the $10,000 that was designated for this year’s program has been allotted.
Applications and guidelines for the grant are available on ACDC’s website (www.atchisoncounty.org/grant) or you can contact the office and request to have it mailed or e-mailed to you. Please contact ACDC staff (660-744-6562; atchdev@rpt.coop) with questions.
