If you have read our paper in the last few weeks, you would have noticed that the Atchison County Mail has had a drop box set up for items to be dropped off and shipped overseas to our military for the holidays. For many of these soldiers, they are on their first deployment and are missing Christmas with their families for the first time.
We have had many items dropped off including; cards, letters, candies, toiletries, and prayer cloths along with money to help pay for the shipping cost. We are going to be packaging these items up and shipping them off by December 15.
I want to thank everyone who took the time to help with this cause. Your generosity doesn’t go unnoticed. Even in times of trial and what seems to be a terrible division of our country, it warms my heart that a community such as ours still exists. Again, thank you everyone and if all goes well maybe we can make Christmas 2017 for these soldiers even better! Happy Holidays!
