Atchison County and the surrounding communities are proud to have men and women serve our great nation in the military. This year, Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199 is hosting a celebration and recognition of families with loved ones serving in the military and who are on active duty, part or full-time. It’s an American tradition to display a Blue Star Service Banner in the window of a home when a loved one is proudly serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. The Blue Star Service Banner is a reminder that war touches every neighborhood.
If you are a family with a loved one who has completed basic training and is serving our country, contact Ann Roberts, Post #199 Service Officer, at 660-744-3625, or Commander Timothy Morehouse at 660-623-9133 and tell the name of the military person, branch of service, and the rank. The Celebration and Recognition Luncheon and Ceremony for these servicemen and women will be held on September 17, 2016, at Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199 at 10 a.m. Past Blue Star Banner recipients are welcome to attend as well. All attendees are asked to bring a food item for a luncheon.
