The Nebraska City Apple Corps Barbershop Chorus will be making two appearances in Atchison County before the end of July. The first will be on Sunday, July 24, when they will sing special music at the Watson United Methodist Church (9 a.m.), First Lutheran Church – Rock Port (9:30 a.m.), First Christian Church (10 a.m.) and Rock Port United Methodist Church (10:45 a.m.). The Chorus will also sing at Atchison-Holt Annual Meeting, Thursday, July 28, at the Rock Port High School.
The Apple Corps is affiliated with the Midstates District of the Harmony Society, the umbrella organization for Barbershop quartets and choruses, housed in Nashville TN. This chorus has chosen not to be a competitive unit, but to be goodwill ambassadors through music in Northwest Missouri, Southeast Nebraska, and Southwest Iowa. Their Annual Show is the first Saturday in March each year. Men who like to sing are invited to rehearse with the group on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Nebraska City Neb.
