The kick-off and equity meeting for Heartland Biodiesel was held July 31, 2006, at the Velma Houts Building in Rock Port, Missouri. State Representative Brad Lager addressed the attendees.
Actors and actresses are getting ready for “The Wizard of Oz,” which will be presented at the Liberty Theatre in Rock Port, Missouri.
Community Hospital Auxiliary members were treated to an Appreciation and Awards Luncheon July 20. Lillian Thiesfeld, Rock Port, was named “Auxilian of the Year.”

Candidates for Miss Fairfax 1991 are Kelly Sites, Beth Lewis, Jena Cottle, Jennifer Rader, Alicia Wensel, Vicki David, Marla Pope, Jayne Graves, Amy Slaughter, Rachel Sefrit, Jena Cottle, and Marisa Smith.
The theme for this year’s Fairfax Fair is “Fairfax . . . A Good Place to Live and Grow.”
Tim and Sandy Umbarger, Fairfax, are the parents of a son, Daniel Payden, born August 1 at Community Hospital in Fairfax.

August 4, 1966
Final plans are being completed to make the first Community Fair in Fairfax a day to remember. The day’s program will start with a parade, followed by a baby contest, booths in the park, a water fight by the firemen, and an exhibition performance by Golden Arrow Bowhunters. The talent program and queen contest will be held that evening.
Fairfax 4-H members selected to participate in district achievement day activities in Maryville were Sharon O’Riley, dress revue, and Patti Park, girls grooming.
Candy Brandon placed second in the national field archery tournament at Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
Few contests in the primary election accounted for a light vote in Atchison County Tuesday. The proposition to abolish the office of county superintendent of schools carried by a vote of 616 to 286.
