Atchison County Development Corporation (ACDC) Board met February 13, 2019. Present were: Bob Alldredge, W.C. Farmer, Roger Martin, Jeff Meyer, Lori Seymour, Eryn Stepp. Monica Bailey and Carol Clark were also present.

The meeting was called to order by Seymour. Board members voted to approve minutes as amended and financials as presented.

Director’s Report

Bailey reported on the following:

• Sales tax renewal: The 1/4-cent sales tax that funds ACDC will be on the April 2 ballot. Bailey is meeting  with all interested civic and community groups to offer education on ACDC efforts.

• Great Northwest Day 2019 was February 5-6. Atchison County’s theme was ‘Preserving Atchison County with the Wind” and highlighted the importance of keeping wind farm tax dollars local.

• Community lunches will be held on Wednesdays at noon on March 13 (Tarkio Nutrition Center), March 20 (Dusty Trail in Rock Port), and March 27 (Fairfax Fire Station Community Room).

• BI 2019 Grant applications are due February 20.

• 2019 scholarship applications are due February 28.

• Wind legislation update – SB72 (Ways and Means could report this bill out of committee this week, could expect debate as early as the week of February 18 in the Senate); HB220 (Utilities could report out this week, could expect debate as early as the week of February 18 in the House); HB835 (mirrors SB72 and serves as second vehicle in the house should something go wrong with HB220).

• Junior Job Shadowing Day will be March 22.

New Business

The group reviewed nonprofit support requests that have been submitted since the last meeting, including one from Tarkio Volunteer Fire Department and one from Northwest MO Bots.  Bailey will be in touch with both groups.
