Missouri Community Betterment judges visited Fairfax September 19. Fairfax Youth Activities hosted the judges and presented “The Gourmet Project Buffet.” The judges presented certificates to Marilyn Alldredge and Kaylyn Sly for being nominated for Missouri Community Betterment Leadership Awards.
Tyler Heits is this week’s football player of the week. Amber Lewis is the volleyball player of the week.
The Fairfax Lady Bulldogs won third place in the Nodaway-Holt Volleyball Tournament.
A design has been selected for the Walk of Honor at the Atchison County Memorial Building.

September 26, 1991
The Fairfax Marching Band placed third at the AppleJack Parade in Nebraska City, Nebraska.
A new organization called Citizens, Parents and Teachers was formed September 17 at Fairfax. Officers elected were: Alice Kemerling, chairman; Julie Beck, vice-chairman; Karen Ray, secretary; and Rick Kemerling, treasurer.
Kenna Osburn and Marisa Smith are the editors of the new in school paper, “Bark-n-Bite.” The staff includes Danny, Heath, Johanna, Jon and Pepé.
The Fairfax Bulldogs travelled to Hopkins September 21 and defeated the North Nodaway Mustangs 28-18.
Special days during Homecoming Week at Fairfax High included Concert T-shirt Day, Mourning/Morning Day, 50’s Hippies Day, Jersey Day, and Green & White/Hush Button Day.

September 22, 1966
Kathy Shineman has been awarded the FHA pin as the most courteous initiate by her classmates in the home economics department.
Fairfax rolled out the red carpet for the Missouri Community Betterment judges. They were met at the Tarkio airstrip by a large delegation of citizens, including Sandra Wennihan, Miss Fairfax of 1966; Shirley Wennihan, Betterment Chairman; and Ralph Hackett, mayor. Another big group of citizens gathered downtown to give a rousing Fairfax welcome to the visiting dignitaries.
The federal water pollution control administration has approved $8,310 to the City of Fairfax for use in a waste stabilization lagoon west of the city.
The Fairfax Bulldogs rolled to their second victory by downing a determined St. Joseph Central team 19-0. The annual homecoming game will be played under the Fairfax lights September 23, with the Mound City Panthers providing the opposition.
