RPE Cheer Clinic

This year the Rock Port High School football and basketball cheerleaders hosted a cheer clinic for elementary girls. Preschool through sixth grade girls were invited to attend cheer camp. The cheerleaders made up a dance for the girls to learn during the practices. The elementary girls had practice on Saturday, October 1; Thursday, October 6; and Friday, October 7.
On Saturday, October 1, the high school cheerleaders arrived at the elementary gymnasium at 8:30 a.m. to greet the younger girls with smiles. The preschool through third grade session was from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The fourth grade through sixth grade session was from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The high school cheerleaders taught the girls a dance, two cheers, and the school song. The fifth and sixth grade girls also were able to learn how to stunt, which they loved. The girls enjoyed a break with cookies donated from Subway. The first day of the cheer clinic was a success.
On Thursday, the elementary girls congregated in the elementary gymnasium after school. The practice was only one hour long. The girls reviewed the two cheers they learned on Saturday. They also practiced the dance they memorized on Saturday. Some of the girls were unable to attend on Saturday due to a volleyball tournament. Those girls were taken aside to learn the dance and cheers. The girls were anxious to perform their routine in front of the large crowd at the football game.
On Friday, the young cheerleaders exhibited one cheer to the crowd at the pep assembly. The crowd was fascinated with the young girl’s execution of the cheer. The girls were very nervous, but performed cheerfully for the large audience. After school, the high school cheerleaders led the elementary girls to the elementary gymnasium. The young girls were prepared for the big night. They reviewed just how they would perform at the football game. All of the girls received a blue and white sparkly cheer bow.
At the football game, the girls presented a great show to the large crowd. The community members were impressed with the girl’s performance. The little cheerleaders performed two cheers, a dance, and the older girls were able to perform the school song. The Rock Port band played the school song for the fourth, fifth, and sixth grade girls.
In conclusion, the cheer clinic was a huge success. Besides learning cheers and a dance, the girls got acquainted with many cheer motions. All of the elementary cheerleaders loved to connect with high school cheerleaders. Personally, I am really going to miss helping with the Elementary Cheer Clinic. The Elementary Cheer Camp is a great way to get to know all of the elementary girls. It is so fun getting to teach the young girls cheers and a dance. I am very sad this was my last year helping the girls, but I know they will have fun next year! Thank you to everyone who sent their children to this camp. We sincerely appreciate the girls who attended the clinic. If anyone was unable to sign up this year, we hope you sign up next year!

The Blue Jays beat the Spartans 74-26, and the game ended during the third quarter. “The Blue Jays made a point to prove that we were a better team than the one that lost to Southwest Livingston the week prior.
