Jim and Mildred were married in Hiawatha, Kansas, on December 21, 1946, at the Hiawatha Baptist Church. They have three children, Nina Moore, Rose Deering, and Larry Morrison. Jim graduated from Westboro High School and spent several years in the South Pacific during World War II. Mildred was raised in the Ridgeway, Missouri, area and graduated from Ridgeway High School.
Most of Jim’s career was spent working for grain elevators in the Tarkio and Westboro area, including 25 years at Tarkio Pelleting Corp. Mildred spent 13 years driving the mail route between Tarkio and Westboro. She also spent 20 years working at H & R Block in Tarkio.
After a few years of retirement, they spent several years working and managing KOA campgrounds in Rock Port and Kansas City before settling back in Tarkio. Currently, they are managers at the El-Ray Apartments south of Tarkio. They have both been involved in community activities, including Lions Club (Jim with 67 years in Westboro Lions Club), American Legion, Volunteer Ambulance Service and Volunteer Fire Department. Jim is the only living original fireman of the Westboro Fire Department. They are members of the Westboro United Methodist Church. They have enjoyed going to North Dakota to the 164th Infantry Reunions, Jim’s WWII unit. Jim and Mildred are active in woodworking and crafts. Jim does the woodworking and Mildred does the painting. Mildred also enjoys baking.
The children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren invite you to come and celebrate the occasion.
