The Honorable Kay Graves Rosenbohm, Associate Circuit Judge of Atchison County, will retire December 31. She has served in that capacity since February 4, 1994.
Xi Lambda Beta Sorority announced the winners of the Christmas light contest. They are: Bob and Marilyn Alldredge, grand prize; Bill and Nancy VanGundy, first place; Delores Hawkins, second place; Nancy and Mike Harrington, third place; and Mark and Sherry Adams, honorable mention.
The Fairfax Playground Renewal Committee sponsored a Christmas Tour of Homes December 10, to raise money for new playground equipment at Fairfax R-3 School.

Dooley’s Deli opened this week in Fairfax. It is located in part of the Miller building at the east end of Main Street.
Clarence Kerr, Fairfax, has received notification that the 103 pound blue catfish he caught September 16 has been qualified for a world record.
The Fairfax Lady Bulldogs defeated Rock Port 43-27 in the championship game of the Mound City Tournament, winning the tournament for the third consecutive year. Leading scorers for Fairfax were Amy Slaughter with 14 points and Beth Lewis with 13 points.

December 8, 1966
Both Fairfax basketball teams received the consolation trophies at the annual Mound City Basketball Tournament.
Using the new dining facilities at the Masonic hall for the first time Tuesday were members of the Kiwanis Club. Ladies of the Eastern Star served the meal.
Newly elected officers of the board of directors of the Community Club are: Mrs. Shirley Wennihan, president; Tom Miller, vice-president; Mrs. Nancy Gaines, secretary; and Harry Emrick, treasurer.
Showing at the Tarkio Theatre: “The Wild Angels,” starring Nancy Sinatra and Peter Fonda, and “Promise Her Anything,” starring Warren Beatty and Leslie Caron.
Kerr’s Fairfax IGA Market advertised the following specials: ground beef, 2 pounds for 98¢; chuck roast, 35¢ per pound; French fries, 9-ounce package, 8¢; Robin Hood flour, 5-pound bag, 39¢; and Meadow Gold cottage cheese, 2-pound tub for 49¢.
