Atchison Holt Electric hosts 78th Annual Membership Meeting- The 78th Annual Membership Meeting of the Atchison-Holt Electric Cooperative was held at the Rock Port High School Gym, July 28, 2016. A reported 357 gathered for the wonderful meal provided. Registered membership attendance was 171.

MDC Awards Grants to Rural Fire Department- MDC representative, Mason Hurley, presents Rock Port Fire Chief, Scott Jones with part of the $1,900 that rural fire departments have been awarded by the Missouri department of Conservation.

New to the elementary are Kaitlea Hastert, Tabitha Waigand and Steve Waigand.

Conservation Agents Nab Squirrel Poachers- Pictured left to right are MDC Agents Roller, Abbott and Maupin with the 101 Squirrels that were taken illegally near Rock Port.

Double M Towing Changes Hands- In 2006 Scott and Shauna Melvin started Double M Towing and operated it for 10 years. At the end of July 2016, Scott and Shauna sold their towing business to Jody and Breanna Vansickle. Jody operated a tow truck around the Odessa, Missouri area for six years prior to moving to Rock Port with wife Breanna (Parkhurst) who is a manager for Wal-Mart. Jody, who currently is working at Ariens in Auburn, has plans to be a full service towing business, lock-out, tire changes and jump starts. Currently they have two trucks, a rollback and a medium wrecker.

Librarian retirement open house- The turn out was wonderful on September 28, 2016 the Trustees and Director of the Rock Port branch of the Atchison County Library held a Retirement Open House for Karen Culjat and Darlene Schmidt. Refreshments and visiting were enjoyed by all in attendance.
