• Excerpt from Ask Elsie Fae: “Thursday, Bill Heitman brought his brother by Betty’s beauty shop so he could see me without my wig. I realize I’m a scary sight sans wig, but not half as scary as that terrible twosome.”
• The St. Joseph News-Press named three Tarkio High School athletes 2006 Players of the Year for their performances in their respective sports. The girls chosen included Jennelle Freeman for volleyball, Olivia Hawkins for girls’ golf, and Hanna Vette for cross country.
1992
• The Teikyo Westmar University Dance Company performed at Tarkio High School. The dancers danced to a wide variety of music, from Michael Jackson to the innovative sounds of Shadowfax.
• Students at Tarkio R-I donated 812 canned good to the local food pantry.
1967
• A sonic boom warning was issued for Northwest Missouri as practice bombing runs by the Strategic Air Command will take place the next three months.
• Mr. V. I. Morey, naturalist, photographer and lecturer, spoke at Tarkio High School. Mr. Morey retired from teaching after 33 years and is delivering illustrated lectures across Missouri and Kansas. The Moreys have camped out in the wilderness of the Western states for the last several summers and taken pictures of the wild animals, birds, and plants.
