• The 2007 Winter Homecoming King and Queen candidates included Paige VanGundy, Jessica Walter, Caitlin Higgins, Zach Schebaum, Tyler McIntosh, and Trent Powell. Tyler McIntosh was crowned king and Jessica Walter was crowned queen.
• Elizabeth Freeman of Tarkio celebrated her 107th birthday on January 12, 2007.
• Mavarick Ray Smith, son of Bill and Kara (Shaw) Smith, was the first baby of the new year born at Community Hospital Association in Fairfax, Missouri.

1992
• A farewell reception was held for Missouri State Highway Patrol Lieutenant Roger Stottlemyer of Tarkio, who served the Atchison County area for 17 years.
• Tarkio R-I held began its annual Adult Farmer Meetings, with this year’s topic being “Computer Applications to Farming.” Areas to be covered include records, software, and other applications.
• The Mule Barn Theatre Guild hosted “In A Room Somewhere” at the Walnut Inn in Tarkio.

1967
• The Texas Boys’ Choir presented a concert at Tarkio College in Rankin Hall. The internationally famous Choir of Fort Worth brought a multilingual program of continental flavor to the campus, singing folk songs of Europe in the original language, classical liturgical music, and the appealing ballads of their own Southwest.
