Straight talk with Karlly Eyman- By Chase Henson
If you need someone to give you a straight answer or to help you with anything that you may need, Karlly Nadean Eyman is your girl. Karlly is the daughter of Stephanie and Bruce White. Stephanie works as a nurse at Community Hospital-Fairfax and Bruce works at Crop Production Services in Westboro. She has five siblings: Spencer (26) who attends the Oklahoma Welding School, Kelsey (24) who is a preschool teacher at Bright Horizons, Bryce (21), Kennedy who is in the third grade, and Karsyn who is in the first grade. Last, but certainly not least, among her family members is her dog, Bella.
One of her many favorite childhood memories is when Haley ripped her pants during P.E. her 4th grade year of elementary. When asked about any embarrassing moments, Karlly really could not think of any, but she realized that classmate Haley Hall had enough for all to share. While in high school, Karlly has participated in many sports and activities such as FBLA for 2 years, FCCLA for 1 year, FFA for 4 years, Interact for 4 years, Stu-Co for 4 years and during her senior year she is the secretary of the student body, NHS for 2 years, FCA for 4 years, Scholar Bowl for 1 year, Volleyball for 2 years, Cheer for 3 years, Track for 1 year, and Band for 3 years.
When she is not participating in her many activities, you can find her working at Hy-Vee, where she has been working for the last two years. If she is not working she is either reading, playing with Bella, or watching Netflix. Some of Karlly’s favorite things include her favorite TV show Gilmore Girls, her favorite song is what ever comes up on Pandora, her favorite food is Joy Wok, her favorite sports teams are the Royals, Chiefs, and Mizzou Tigers, her favorite school subject is English, and her favorite book is House of Night novels. After Karlly graduates from Tarkio High School, she plans on attending Missouri State University in Springfield and majoring in Zoology.

KIDS CORNER-
Spotlight- Landon Driskell
Landon is a 5 year old attending preschool Kids’ Korner this year. He is the son of JoAnna and Jeremy Driskell. His favorite color is blue and his favorite food is marshmallows. His favorite song is “7 Years Old” and his favorite book is “Curious George.” He enjoys the reading center and playing in the science center with the cars. His favorite this about Tarkio is Casey’s because of their donuts with chocolate frosting with sprinkles.
Spotlight- Mikayla Smith
Mikayla Smith, the daughter of Ashley Alsup and Travis Smith, is a 3 year old attending Kids’ Korner. Her favorite colors are blue and pink. Her favorite food is chicken. She enjoys a puppy book and the song B-I-N-G-O. At school, her favorite things are centers and recess. Her favorite things about Tarkio are going to her Mema Theresa’s, and getting cheese and grapes from Casey’s.
EA loses to South Nodaway in conference games-
The East Atchison Wolves basketball teams hosted South Nodaway in conference action Tuesday, February 14, 2017, in the Tarkio High School Gym.
The EA varsity boys lost their contest 59-64. Gage McAdams led the Wolves with 24 points (four three-pointers), followed by Garrett Meyer with 21, Brody Cooper with nine (one three-pointer), Jake McEnaney with three, and Shae DeRosier with two. Coach Robbie Bates commented, “The kids fought hard, but we have to learn that every possession in a close game counts.”
The EA jr. varsity girls lost their game 26-45. Chloe Bruns and Kaely Kirwan led the Lady Wolves with six points each, followed by Jae Barnett and Grace Martin with four each, and Cat Prater, Madison Lesher, and McKenzie Frohn with two each.
The EA varsity Lady Wolves lost their contest 45-58. Kinley Thornhill led EA with 15 points (one three-pointer), followed by Jaycee Graves with 11 points, Madison Ohrt with nine (one three-pointer), Kilea Cooper with six (one three-pointer), and Alyssa Garrison and and Grace Martin with two each.
Kindergarten Round-Up- There will be a short meeting for the parents of 2017-2018 Tarkio Elementary kindergarten students on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. in the elementary library. The kindergarten handbook will be distributed and kindergarten procedures and expectations will be discussed. Parents are asked to bring a copy of their student’s birth certificate and Social Security card to the meeting.
On Thursday, March 30, kindergarten screenings will take place at Tarkio Elementary. Appointments can be made by calling the elementary at 660-736-4177, prior to the screening date if you are unable to attend this meeting. The VIP Day will be on Friday, April 15. The future kindergarteners will arrive at 8:30 a.m., become familiar with the classroom and take a bus ride. Parents are invited to eat lunch with their children and following lunch, they may take their children with them.
FBLA members participate in Peru State Business Contest- 
Tarkio High School FBLA Chapter members competed in the Peru State College Business Contest in Peru, Nebraska, Wednesday, February 15, 2017.
