It was happy pitch players who met at Aunt Martha’s Bed and Breakfast on February 26, 2019. We had not met since January 8 because of bad weather, so there was lots of news to be shared. Sharon Smith and Debbie Johnson filled our ranks. Martha Shaffer won high, Sharon Smith won second high, and I had low. We only played four hands rather than our usual eight, so my excuse was that I was just getting warmed up when we quit. Why did we quit? To talk!
Deb Johnson, our designated hostess, was absent so Martha served dessert, a cheesecake with a choice of caramel or chocolate syrup on top and lots of hot coffee. Once we had finished the cheesecake, the talking began and didn’t stop until someone noticed it was time to go home. I was just happy that we had managed to meet on such a nice day. That was until I had to find my ice scraper to clear my windshield of a lovely little layer of ice and flakes. The roads were okay, but I was glad to get home. I went into my warm house singing “Let it Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow.”
