The Atchison County Courthouse will get underway a project for better parking facilities as soon as the weather gets warmer. According to Judge Ray Richards, when the weather warms, Orville Loomis will survey the ground east of the courthouse and contracts will be let for the job. Plans are to clear a block area on the east, add 10 feet to the width of the street and 20 feet of parking sloping it back within 50 feet of the courthouse. The sidewalk and retaining wall will have to be removed. The proposed plan should eliminate the past parking problems on court days and during tax season, also the normal flow of customers each day.
