Monday, March 11, dawned sunny and warm (compared to recent days) and 80 people turned out to make a lifesaving blood donation at the Tarkio National Honor Society Blood Drive. Due to many blood drives across the region being cancelled because of uncooperative winter weather, the Community Blood Center is running extremely low of their blood donations. Thanks to the warm weather and the plea for donors spread far and wide, the Tarkio Elementary Gym was packed with people willing and able to donate, including Tim Turnbull, above, and Lisa Clement and Dara Wennihan, below (as well as the many people seated behind them waiting for their turns). A total of 65 units of blood were donated, passing the old record by 10 units. Lee Roy Sickman earned a cake for making 100+ donations. He has been donating since 1972.
A beautiful day for a lifesaving blood donation
