Due to a lack of participation, there will not be a Tarkio Chamber of Commerce selection of Citizen, Employee, Farm Family, and Youth Volunteer of the Year for 2019. Not all categories could have been filled with the ballots received.

Fifty-two years ago, the Tarkio Community Betterment organization began recognizing citizens for going above and beyond to make this town a better place in which to live and work. Later, the Tarkio Chamber of Commerce took over for Community Betterment. Many outstanding citizens have been recognized over the years and the banquets were well attended, until recently. Last year it was announced that the Tarkio Chamber of Commerce was looking for another organization to take over, but so far none have come forward. And, because only a few nomination ballots are turned in each year, it gets harder and harder to fill the award positions. It is a sad turn of events, but things change and people’s interests change.

The Tarkio Chamber of Commerce would like to thank those citizens, employees, farm families, and youth volunteers who continually complete their tasks with such passion and purpose and make all of us proud to call them “our own.”
