• Miss Georgia Hedrick has accepted a position with the First National Bank of Tarkio and will start her work there as soon as the school closes at Rock Port, where she has been employed as a teacher for the past four years.

• Mr. and Mrs. John Curry of Northboro, Iowa, became grandpa and grandma twice the day of March 14 as Mrs. Elza West, the former Miss Lucille Curry, gave birth to a baby girl, weighing almost nine pounds at nine o’clock a.m. The baby has been named Connie Louise. About 9:15 p.m., Mrs. Dick Harmes, the former Miss Elva Curry, gave birth to a baby girl weighing six pounds and five ounces. This little miss has been named Mary Lou.

March 27, 1969

• Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Smith left today, Thursday, for a four-day vacation trip to Hollywood, Florida. Mr. Smith, manager of NHN Farm Center, won the trip as a sales award. They will be in the company of other Ralston Purina winners.

• In a special Board of Education meeting Tuesday evening, Phil Close was employed to coach football, boys’ basketball and track, and teach physical education and driver’s education in the Fairfax R-3 system next term, pending his draft deferment for the period.

March 31, 1994

• Holly Whittington, a 1991 graduate of Fairfax and a student at UMKC Pharmacy School, has recently signed a contract with Rogers Pharmacy. The contract would allow her some scholarship money every semester until graduation. After graduation, she has the option to repay the loan or become a pharmacist at Rogers Pharmacy.

• Tiffany Taylor of Fairfax, representing Elks Lodge #1122 of Shenandoah, Iowa, won the girls 10 to 11 year old division and advanced to the National Hoop Shoot to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, on April 22-24. Tiffany made 20 of 25 free throws to advance.
